Pennichuck's Rate Increase 

Earlier this year, Pennichuck put together a petition to the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission (NHPUC) on a rate increase. The first portion of the proposal involved a temporary rate increase of 10.4%, which was recently approved by the NHPUC. 

The increase, which does not effect private and public fire protection, took effect the billing period of September 8, and Pennichuck has received approximately $98,000 in additional revenue for that month.

Pennichuck is now working through the approval process for the requested permanent rate increase of 20.09%. As part of the process, the NHPUC spent four weeks at Pennichuck, going through the books. Once they have completed their review of over 155 audit requests, and have gone through the rest of the data they have requested, the final hearing on the rate case will take place. The hearing is scheduled for February 4, 5, and 6 of 2002.
