CLEARWATER 2011

Clear Water Estates EPA # 1972070
Microbiological Contaminants Date(s) Collected Highest Detect Range Detected MCL MCLG Violation Yes/No Typical Source of Contaminant
E. coli Bacteria found in Well #1 only.  No Coliforms were found in the other well or the distribution system. 3/17/2010 3.1 N/A 0 0 YES Human and animal fecal waste
Health Effects: E. coli are bacteria whose presence indicates that the water my be contaminated with human or animal wastes.  Microbes in these wastes can cause short-term effects, such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms.  They may pose a special health risk for infants, young children, and people with severely compromised immune systems.

VIOLATIONS: A boil order was put into effect on 3/17/10 because a routine ground water sample taken from well #1 was positive for E. coli bacteria.  Well # 1 was shut off and chlorinated; a continuous chlorination system was installed on 3/17.  Subsequent samples taken from well # 1 on 3/19, 3/20, 3/22, 3/24, and 3/25 were all absent of E. coli bacteria.  The source of the contamination was attributed to heavy rains.  Distribution samples taken during this period were all absent of total coliform bacteria.  The boil order was lifted on 3/22/10.
What is the source of my drinking water?
The source of the Clear Water Estates water supply is two wells.  Bedrock well # 1 is located 158 feet south of the pump house.  Bedrock well # 2 is located 156 feet southwest of the pump house.  Treatment consists of chlorine to kill bacteria and ion exchange to remove hardness as well as iron and manganese.
