2007

The primary source for the Bon Terrain water system is the Bon Terrain Well and Pump House located off of Old Nashua Road in Amherst, NH.  A secondary source of supply is the Pennichuck Brook pond system which supplies water to the Pennichuck Water Treatment Plant which in turn supplies water to the city of Nashua, Bon Terrain, and the Amherst Village District.  Treatment consist of pH adjustment and phosphate addition for corrosion control, and chlorination for disinfection.

Presently, the Environmental Protection Agency is reviewing a proposed standard of 300 pCi/L for radon in drinking water.   Radon gas that is inhaled has been linked to lung cancer; however, it is not entirely clear at what level radon in your drinking water contributes to this and other possible carcinogenic effects.
